Matt Damon’s latest thriller has been highly anticipated, after the great standards set by the Bourne Trilogy. Damon plays a young ambitious politician named David, who falls for a seductive dancer, Elsie, played by Emily Blunt. If you have seen the trailer to this film you will be expecting an action packed motion picture leaving you on the edge of your seat. However you will be disappointed. The only stimulating parts of this movie are featured in the trailer.
‘The Adjustment Bureau’ is a team of men dressed in suits and trilby hats, who keep people on ‘the plan’ throughout out their lives. ‘The Plan’ is an animated book which contains diagrams of individual’s lives. I hope you are as confused as I was. To make the plot seem more outrageous ‘The Adjustment Bureau’ travel through New York by means of changing doors, which they can only access if they are wearing an official Bureau hat!
When we first see the Bureau they look like an elite version of ‘The Men in Black’, it is laughable. The plot is hard to take seriously with such a farfetched story and little attention to detail. Possibly if writers George Nolfi and Phillip K. Dick had paid more attention to the Bureau; who it was run by, and why it challenges religion, we could take it a little more seriously.
To end the silly fantasy David and Elsie are united: this fairy tale ending makes this film a classic flop. If you are a Matt Damon fan, this film will be a serious let down. Don’t waste your money and wait till this film is in a bargain bucket.
